Paul Klee

A Swiss-born painter and graphic artist who's work blended primitive art, surrealism, cubism, and children's art together. He was known for small-scale, delicate paintings, watercolors, and drawings.

"Like Kandinsky, Klee valued the 'primitive', and especially the art of children. He envied their polymorphous freedom to create signs, and respected their innocence and directness." (Robert Hughes, from "Shock of the New.")
